STEP I: USERPERSONA CREATION
Once we were done with the user interviews of managers, directors and other supervisors, we found out certain common issues faced by the authorities while managing the work on Shopfloor. Thus for finding the solution, we started with making the model of User Personas of the Operations Manager working on Shopfloor.
STEP II: JOURNEY MAPPING
Once we had created the User Persona, the next thing to do was to observe the operations managers' typical day at work. This kind of data was used to get insights on the challenges he might be facing and how we can use the techniques of Industry 4.0 to help solve it. Thus, we did Journey Mapping of his day, assisted with the Storyboarding technique. The journey map mainly consisted of his thoughts and feelings, his experience and problems faced during completion of each task.
STEP III: SOLUTION- WIREFRAMING
As soon as we could pin point the problems faced by the Operation Manager through journey mapping, we used Industry 4.0 techniques to overcome these issues. The biggest challenge faced by the Operations Manager was the unavailability of real time data, and his incapability of being in two places at once (Shopfloor and his office). Other challenges included keeping in touch with the vendors, keeping a watch on all the employees work and deadlines, communication gaps with his superiors and many more. We decided to create a desktop application that will be linked to all the available data of machines' on-site and provide its real time data on his monitor. The desktop application, also had other sub-applications added to it, which solved other issues. It consisted real time employee work status and its attendance. It provided progress reports, sales and ways to communicate efficiently with his superiors and customers.
- After the application was created, we undertook usability testing of the supervisors who went through the user interview surveys.
- We checked if the desktop application fulfilled its purpose. We found out the strengths and drawbacks of the application and thus, the product underwent few corrections.
- Now, to boost Expert Global Solutions' productivity, Industry 4.0 and its techniques are being used in different sectors of the company.
